Favorite Things

Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens… Ok, not really.

I wanted to share a few of my favorites-organizations, blogs, etc:

The Preemptive Love Coalition. This is the non-profit organization I worked with during the six months I lived Northern Iraq. PLC is changing the lives of children in Norther Iraq. Not only are they seeking to eradicate the backlog of kids in line for heart saving surgery, they are also teaching and raising up talented surgeons in this country! They want to see peace and renewal in a place that has seen so much unrest and violence. Spend just a few minutes reading about the organization’s mission and look at the sweet faces of kids who get a chance at life! I promise, it will change your perspective of Iraq!Read their blog here.

Amazima Ministries was founded by 19 year-old Katie Davis in 2008. The organization, based out of Brentwood, TN, feeds, educates, and encourages orphaned and vulnerable children and the poor in the country of Uganda. In the Lugandan language, Amazima (uh-mahz-i-muh) means “truth.” Amazima desires to reveal the truth of God’s unconditional love through Jesus Christ to the Ugandan people. Amazima ministers to the Ugandan people through: Education Sponsorship, Masese Outreach, Community Outreach, Vocational Projects and Discipleship. I stumbled across this ministry reading Katie’s blog. If ever there was a blog to read, this one would be it (no exaggeration, I promise!) The faith of this girl challenges me to the core. She is a daily example of the love of Christ. If nothing else read her blog – start from the beginning and read it like a book. Speaking of books, Katie wrote a book about her time in Uganda that is coming out in October 2011 – buy it here!
